Winter Storm Update

A winter storm warning is in effect until midnight Saturday.  The leading edge of the storm is here with sleet mixing with snow.  We have reports of icy roads across Morgan county south to Bloomington and in Avon west of Indianapolis.  With temperatures now below freezing, any road that looks wet may actually be slick.  The sleet and snow mix will change to all snow overnight and Friday.  We are expecting in the range of 4-7 inches total in Indianapolis and surrounding communities by the time the storm ends Friday evening.  Totals will be lighter north, as we are expecting 1-3 inches for Lafayette and Kokomo.  The highest snowfall potential is south of Indianapolis, in Bloomington, Columbus, Shelbyville and cities south.  These totals will be 6-9 inches of snow.  This storm is still developing and there will still be some changes, so stay tuned for updates.  If you do have travel plans, remember it may take you longer.  Take us along with you by downloading the WTHR weather app.  You can track the snow with us on Live Doppler 13 Radar.  This is an image from 7pm…for the latest please click the Live Doppler 13 radar image here at
