Winter Storm WarningBy
A winter storm warning is in effect for central Indiana from 1pm Tuesday through 1pm Wednesday. There is the potential for 6-10 inches of snow. Right now that heavy snow band is forecast just north of Indianapolis. Along I-70, there is 4-7 inches of snow in the forecast. The totals are forecast to be lighter across our southern area, due to the potential for mixing with sleet and freezing rain. If it stays all snow, these totals will be adjusted up, so stay tuned for updates.
The Tuesday morning drive to work and school will be fine. The snow, ice and sleet are forecast to start falling Tuesday afternoon and last through Wednesday late morning. The heaviest snow should hold off until after the Tuesday evening commute. It is forecast to fall from about 7pm Tuesday through 3am Wednesday. Another round of cold air will follow this winter storm. Forecast lows are 0 to -5 for Thursday and Friday mornings, with highs only in the teens.
