Tuesday storm timeline

By · March 5, 2013 at 11:52 am

warningMost of Indiana has dealt with nothing but grey skies, mist and drizzle on this chilly March day. Things get a little more messy for the evening rush hour, though.

As temperatures drop and the backside of an area of low pressure moves in, we’ll see accumulating snow. I’m looking for an accumulation of 3 to 6 inches in the Indy metro area, but in our far northern counties, we could see 5 to 8 inches, especially in an area from Lafayette to Kokomo to Marion. Indianapolis, by the way, is now under a Severe Weather Warning beginning at 3 pm.

I realize there is a big gap in snow amounts in this forecast, but that’s the kind of day we are looking at, with some areas receiving snow maybe 3 or 4 hours before another area.It does look like the morning rush hour may be impacted with blowing and drifting snow.
