Snow will continue to develop across Central Indiana this afternoon, making for a messy evening commute. The heaviest snow is expected to fall between 5pm and 1am.
At times, the snowfall rates will be an inch an hour, making travel hazardous and difficult. Crews will have a hard time keeping up with the snow as it falls.
A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at 1pm, and will continue through Wednesday afternoon.
Snow totals along and north of I-70 of up to 12″ of snow cannot be ruled out. As we said yesterday, the “heavier” snow line could be pushed south, and that is exactly what we’ve done with this newest snowfall potential map.
Sleet is still possible in our southern counties, but if sleet does not mix in, we will be looking at totals on the higher side of the predictions there as well (per the map).
Colder air moves in behind the snow, and subzero lows will again be possible Thursday and Friday morning, with another chance of snow Sunday.
Be safe, and please keep checking in with us on air, online, and through the Skytrak Weather app. We’ll keep you posted through the storm.
