Tracking the Possibility of Accumulating Snow

By · December 26, 2011 at 6:31 am

Enjoy the sunshine today, because accumulating snow could be in the forecast as we head into Tuesday.

Sunny skies and temps in the mid 40s are expected across Central Indiana today.  Winds will come out of the south up to 10mph, so it won’t be as windy as it was this weekend.

Late tonight into Tuesday morning a rain/snow mix will develop across Central Indiana.  During the morning commute, pockets of snow showers mixed with rain are expected, and by Tuesday afternoon 1-2″ of snow accumulation is possible.  The higher totals will be found along and north of I-70.  Areas south of I-70 could see up to an inch of snow.  The timing of this system is bad, during the morning commute, so plan on giving yourself a little extra time.  Highs Tuesday will reach the upper 30s with wind gusts up to 25mph.  A lot of the snow will melt.  The precip moves out of Central Indiana by 3pm.  Stay tuned for any and all updates as this system develops!

Wednesday, highs hit the mid 30s with sunshine making a return.

There’s a slight chance for rain Friday… other than that… temps in the 40s are above average for this time of year… and we’re heading there again for the weekend.
