It’s Fast Friday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and our weather is sunny, warm and dry. Sunscreen, shades, and staying hydrated will be top of mind for fans. And though the humidity levels will be in the comfortable range today, we’ll watch some stickier air move in by the end of the weekend on Bump Day. Today’s high should reach around 82, 9 degrees warmer than the average of 73…but shy of the record 90 set in 1962.
This weekend, whether you’re heading to the Broad Ripple Art Fair, the Brickyard, Brick Street Market in Zionsville, the Geist Half Marathon, or the Indianapolis Great Strides Walk, you’ll need to be prepared to beat the heat! Highs in the upper 80s will be the warmest air we’ve seen since September! Tomorrow will be the perfect day to stop by one of the many lemonade stands going up for Lemonade Day. Keeping cool will be a must. We should stay dry all weekend, the exception might be far Western and Northwestern Indiana by late Sunday/Sunday night.
So when will we finally see some rain? Our next chance arrives Monday with scattered showers and storms. Most areas could get up to 1/4″ of rain…something our yards could definitely use. Our last rain officially at Indianapolis Airport (.13″) came on Wednesday, March 9th. Tuesday, we may see a few widely scattered showers, and an isolated shower or storm can’t be ruled out Wednesday before we dry out and warm up again. 5 of the next 7 days we’ll likely have highs in the 80s.
Finally, our Hoosier Pic today at noon. Love this pic of Butler Blue III and Butler Blue II taken this morning at Butler University! They tweeted out this pic commenting on the “Beautiful Spring Weather!” I second that! Submit your pic to WTHR’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WTHR13
