Summer Begins!

Today is the first “official” day of summer, but it’s felt like it all month!

Summer officially begins at 7:28am.  That said, it’s felt like summer all month in Central Indiana!

Today, the heat will continue.  Highs hit the low 90s with lots of humidity!  It will feel closer to 100 degrees across the viewing area because of the heat and humidity.

The weekend remained pretty dry with just spotty storms, but today, even more are expected to move in.  Nearly the entire state is under a slight risk for severe weather today through Wednesday.  We are watching for very heavy rain, damaging wind, hail, and the possibility of an isolated tornado.

The severe weather risk, and the heat will be the focus of our forecasts this week.

Highs will stay in the low 90s through Wednesday, dropping to the mid 80s by Thursday.

  1. This has been the stormiest summer I can recall. I know the rainfall total is 4th highest for June in record.

But I am talking SEVERE – as in the number of tornado WARNINGS at both ends of the state, let alone severe Tstorm and flood warnings. Is there any record book for such things?

Wonder how this month would stack up as it seems we are going for a record to me!

  2. I wish there was a way to put a man made cloud in the sky to block the sun out boo on summer.
