Soggy & Icy Christmas Eve

I hope Santa and the reindeer are ready for heavy rain and strong winds when they fly into Central Indiana.

Highs today will reach the low 40s across Central Indiana.  South of I-70 and in most of the metro area rain showers are expected.  Freezing rain is possible north and northeast of Marion County, with more of a wintry mix near Peru and Logansport.  Click here to see where Freezing Rain Advisories and Winter Weather Advisories are in place until this afternoon.  As we head later into the afternoon, the freezing line is expected to lift, and all rain is expected across Central Indiana.  Winds will gust up to 30 mph into tonight.

Tonight, some showers could get pretty heavy as temperatures remain steady in the low 40s.  We might even hear a few rumbles of thunder.  By Christmas afternoon up to 1.5″ of rain is possible across Central Indiana.

Christmas Day, temps fall into the upper 20s by late afternoon as cold air moves in, and this could mean rain drops will turn to a few snowflakes.  Winds are expected to gust up to 40 mph.

Saturday and Sunday highs will only reach the upper 20s with a chance for light snow.
