A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Central Indiana late Tuesday night until Wednesday night.
This will more than likely be upgraded to a warning as we get closer to this winter weather event moving into the state.
The snow starts to fall late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. At this time, rain/sleet/ice is possible southeast of Indianapolis. By late morning Wednesday, the entire state should be looking at heavy snow.
As of right now, this is how much snow we are expecting by Wednesday night:
Keep in mind the track of this system is still developing, so we will be fine tuning this expected accumulation. Some very isolated spots in the 5″ to 9″ range may pick up a few inches more.
Besides the snow, I am concerned with wind. Wind gusts up to 40mph are likely throughout the day Wednesday. This will lead to whiteout conditions. Travel will be dangerous.
Another chance of snow comes our way Saturday.
