Record Heat Today… Temps Near the Century Mark

By · August 2, 2012 at 4:31 am

Central Indiana will heat up rapidly as temps push close if not break today’s record of 98 set in 1888.  We’ll see mostly sunny skies, and a Knozone Action Day has been declared.  Even though it will be hot today, dew points will be in the comfortable range, so it won’t be too humid.

Tonight temps drop to around 70 with partly cloudy skies.

Friday highs again top out in the upper 90s.  Friday’s record is 98 from 1887.  We’ll come close to tying or breaking that with a chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm.  The humidity will be building Friday, so it will feel hotter as we head into the afternoon.

Saturday there’s a 30% chance for scattered showers and storms, and that chance increases Saturday night into Sunday.  The weekend won’t be a washout.  However, there is a chance of isolated strong to severe storms.  We’ll keep you posted as we get closer to the weekend.

The rain brings a cool down, as temps Sunday only top out in the mid 80s, with more comfortable temps and sunshine for next week.
