The rain has started to fall across the southern half of Indiana. The rain will become more widespread after midnight. A few thundershowers are possible too. We are monitoring a developing storm system that will bring a big weather pattern change to central Indiana, including snow. The winter side of this storm system brings the potential for 1-3 inches of snow along I-70, 3-6 for Lafayette to Kokomo and 4-7 for Peru to Marion and Hartford City. Due to the snow, parts of central Indiana are under a winter weather advisory. It is a winter storm warning for Peru, Marion and Hartford City.
It will be rain through about 4am. The snow will start to fall across NW Indiana first and that change to snow will move south toward Indianapolis around 7am.
This is a still developing storm system and there will be some adjustments to timing and snowfall potential, as we get new information. The snow totals will be lower if the rain lasts longer and higher if the change happens faster, so please stay tuned for updates. Temperatures will fall through the 20s, but with winds NW 25-35mph it will fell like the single digits by Wednesday afternoon. Remember we were near 70 degrees on Tuesday.
The coldest morning will be Thursday, with lows near 10 degrees. Highs will be in the 30s on Thursday, but back into the 50s by Friday. The ups and downs of an Indiana Spring are here.
