Perfect Friday, but Strong Storms Developing

By · April 30, 2010 at 8:47 am

If you love temps flirting with 80 and plenty of sun.  Today is your day!  The only thing throwing a wrench into the forecast is the high pollen forecast and wind gusts up to 40 mph.

As we move into the weekend we are watching for strong to severe storms.

The first round moves in after midnight tonight and sticks around through early afternoon Saturday.  Nearly the entire state of Indiana is under a slight risk for severe weather Saturday.  Very heavy rain is also likely.  We might see a break for showers and storms Saturday afternoon, but towards the evening, the cold front that is triggering all of this will start to lift back towards us, and the activity ramps up.   Damaging wind and large hail will be the strongest concerns from these storms.

Sunday morning more heavy rain is likely, and we’ll see showers and storms throughout the day.

Temperatures Saturday and Sunday will reach the low to mid 70s.

Late Friday night through Sunday night 1-2″ of rain is likely, with localized areas picking up 3″ of rain, especially south of I-70.  Localized flooding is possible.

I’ll be in the weather center all weekend monitoring any changes.  I’ll keep you posted here on the blog, and follow me through Twitter too, @NicoleWTHR.

Monday we dry out and hit the low 70s.
