All of Central is under a slight risk of severe storms today. Damaging wind, large hail, and localized flooding are all concerns. The most likely time for severe storms will be from 11am to 7pm. The most active time on the radar should be afternoon and evening.
Up to 2″ if not more rain is possible under some thunderstorms, so a lot of rain in a short amount of time can lead to flooding. As always, lightning is a danger in any thunderstorm.
Our other weather story today is the heat and humidity. It feels tropical out there! Here’s a look at 9am temps and the heat index. The dewpoint is in the 70s, and that is just oppressive.
Highs will top out in the upper 80s today, but it will feel more like the mid to upper 90s.
The good news? Check out the 7 day… rain free and MUCH cooler, drier air is coming our way!
