Looking Ahead to What Else… More Snow!
ByThis latest winter weather system spit out 3.8″ of snow in Indy. That puts our total for the month of December as 14.7″ of snow, the 6th snowiest on record, and we’re looking for even more snow before the week is done!
Today, watch out for freezing drizzle across the state. Highs will reach the mid 30s. Finally, a day above freezing!
Overnight into Wednesday, a few flurries are possible. Tonight temps drop to the mid 20s, tomorrow we warm into the low 30s.
Thursday, highs hit the low 30s, and it looks like the best travel day of the week! We will see mostly cloudy skies, but dry conditions.
Christmas Eve, snow is likely with accumulation throughout the day, continuing into Christmas Day. It’s still too early to be forecasting snow amounts. Just know, that travel is expected to a mess Friday and Saturday. I know it’s frustrating not knowing how much snow to expect, but we want to give you consistent weather updates. Right now the models are anything but on target, so we will wait and let you know when we are confident in the forecast!

Any truth to the statements that this may be as big as the storm of 1978 if it develops a certain way?

Steve… It could have been a major snowfall but the storm system has now tracked to the south, and that means less snow for Central Indiana. Check out today’s blog for the latest. Thanks for all the comments!
