A Winter Weather Advisory continues until 7am as a result of freezing drizzle and freezing fog. Icy roads are all across Central Indiana and numerous accidents have been reported.
The icy glaze above took less than five minutes to occur Sunday evening outside the WTHR studios downtown. Untreated and/or elevated surfaces and roads are icy, and likely will stay that well into Monday morning.
Unfortunately temperatures will not budge much under thick overcast Monday, and highs again will be in the mid/upper 20s.
Latest data continues to put snow in play late Monday night/pre-dawn Tuesday morning along/south of I-70.
NOT SET IN STONE due to uncertainty in the track, but “potential” within the zone of snow for 1″ to 2″ accumulation. Too early to say where that will be, but understand that the Tuesday morning commute could slick for some… but learning toward the southern third of the state.
Single digit lows are likely both Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Highs Thursday will struggle to climb above 20 degrees! Confidence is high on precipitation next weekend, but whether it’s snow or a rain/snow mix is to be determined. Stay tuned for updates and please be safe if you have to travel.
