Heavy Rain & Strong Storms on the Way

By · February 27, 2011 at 7:06 am

Highs today will reach the mid 50s with developing showers for the afternoon.  The clouds will stick with us today, but at least temps will be a little more mild.

This evening into the overnight, showers and thunderstorms develop across the state.  Temps will remain steady, but with heavy rain in the forecast… flooding is possible.  Up to 2″ of rain, especially south of I-70, has prompted Flood Watches for all of Central Indiana starting tonight, and ending Monday afternoon.  All of Central Indiana is under a slight risk for severe storms.  That means, some thunderstorms could be strong and turn severe.  Damaging winds are the primary threat, along with hail.  I’ve already mentioned the threat for flooding.

The showers and thunderstorms will continue through your Monday morning commute, and into midday.  Temps will fall from the mid 50s into the mid 30s by the evening as we start to dry out.

Tuesday, we’re dry with temps in the mid 40s.  Check out the 7 day below… we don’t stay dry for long!
