Heavy Rain, Severe Storms, Possible Flooding in Today’s Forecast

By · April 22, 2011 at 5:22 am

Highs today will hit the upper 50s with showers and thunderstorms.  The activity is likely to pick up this afternoon into tonight.  Heavy rain is expected prompting a flood watch for all of Central Indiana until Saturday afternoon.  One to three inches of rain is possible across Central Indiana.  This evening into tonight, some thunderstorms could turn strong to severe with damaging wind, and hail our primary concerns, but we can’t rule out an isolated tornado.

Overnight, the heavy rain starts to taper off into your Saturday morning.  Scattered showers are possible for your Saturday, but right now, the rain looks more likely south of I-70.  We’ll keep a close eye on where the rain sets up so you can plan your day!  As for right now it looks like “some” dry time is possible for your weekend.

Sunday, more showers and thunderstorms are likely across Central Indiana, and the chances stick through next Wednesday!  It’s too early to tell if some of these storms will be severe, but we’ll keep you posted.

Are you looking for a grain of good news in all of this soggy mess?  Take a look at the temps in the 7 day!
