Great Game Day Forecast, Chilly Temps for the Work Week

Get ready for a fantastic finish to the weekend! Mostly sunny skies will rule your Sunday with cool temps in the low 50s to start the day, a kick-off temp around 73, and a seasonable post-game high of 78. We’ll stay dry through the rest of the weekend.

Monday, we’ll have lots of clouds (possibly some showers in the morning in Southern Indiana) with rain moving in late for Central and Northern parts of the state. The best chance for rain arrives during the nighttime hours Monday into the early morning Tuesday, according to FutureTrak13. Rain totals don’t look very impressive with between 1/10″ to 1/4″ for the Metro and heavier amounts possible to the south.

The cold front that brings us rain late Monday and early Tuesday will also bring the coldest shot of air we’ve seen in months! We’ll fall from mid 70s Monday to low 60s Tuesday. Tuesday’s high could be the coolest since 61 on June 1st. That will pave the way for a chilly Wednesday morning with lows around 44 in Indy (coldest since 42 on May 10th) and upper 30s possible in outlying areas.

Our next rain chance arrives late Friday into early Saturday. Your WTHR-TV 7-Day features a cool week ahead with temps every single day at or below average.

Finally, our Hoosier Pic at 6 courtesy of Daniel Paull who shot this sun dog in Lapel Saturday morning. What’s a sun dog? It’s an atmospheric phenomenon created when the sun’s rays pass through high clouds made of ice crystals. If they hit at just the right angle, they create a prism effect that looks like a mini-rainbow in the sky. More here:

And here’s our Hoosier Pic at 11 from Teresa Zimmerman. Her husband got this great shot of a butterfly on a flower in Beech Grove.
