From Bitter Cold to Accumulating SnowBy
Our low this morning fell to 5 degrees! Indy’s coldest wind chill was -14 at 3am. We were far from a record, however. The coldest temp on record for Indy on February 1st was -11 back in 1951.
It won’t be as cold this weekend, but we will have accumulating snow as a weak system slides through tomorrow.
Most areas will get 1 to 3″ of snow, with slightly more possible in Northeastern Indiana. The snow moves in after midnight tonight and tapers late tomorrow. We’ll still have scattered flurries around on Sunday.
If you’re hoping for a warm-up, we’ll have a minor thaw next week with highs in the mid to upper 30s.
If you believe in folklore, tomorrow if Punxutawney Phil sees his shadow, we’ll have 6 more weeks of winter. If he doesn’t, we’ll have an early spring.
