Highs today will reach the upper 50s with a mix of sun and clouds in Central Indiana. Winds will be light out of the East up to 10mph.
Clouds increase as we head into tonight, and late this evening into the overnight showers and thunderstorms develop. Some storms may contain heavy rain, which will only make flooding worse across Central Indiana. A Flood Watch goes into effect for the entire viewing area tonight through Saturday, on top of Flood Warnings that are already in place. Click here to stay on top of any watches and warnings that are issued.
Friday, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely, and some storms could be severe. The main threats from strong to severe storms will be damaging wind, large hail, and the possibility of an isolated tornado. Flooding will continue to be a threat with an additional 1-3″ of rain possible. So far this year, Indianapolis has picked up 16.99″ of rain, that’s 6.30″ above average!
Showers and thunderstorms are possible through the weekend, and into early next week. It’s too early to tell if storms past Saturday will be severe, we will keep our eyes on it.
Take a look at the 7 day forecast… flooding will be our primary focus as rain is in the forecast each and every day starting Friday.
