Get ready for the coldest air since Spring with clear skies and light winds overnight. Temps may fall into the low 40s in the city, but outlying spots are likely to see the first temps in the 30s in months.
For Indianapolis, the record low is 38 set in 1956. I think we’ll fall to around 42 if not colder. If we stay clear all night, we might nudge closer to 40. The last time we hit 42 was May 10th. The last time we were colder was April 27th when we fell to 35. The last time we fell below freezing was April 11th when we hit 29.
After a chilly start, we’ll rebound nicely under mostly sunny skies into the upper 60s. A weak system might bring a sprinkle or two Thursday along with milder temps in the 70s. Our best rain chance in the next 7 days comes Friday. The rain could last into early Saturday. Then we’ll have another cool snap for the weekend.
