It’s the last weekend of winter, with the Spring Equinox arriving this Thursday, March 20th. It will FEEL like winter today with blustery conditions and temperatures running 20 degrees below normal. The wind will be out of the northeast from 15 to 25 mph. Temperatures will hold near steady in the upper 20s and low 30s.
A low pressure system will push east along southern Indiana today. There is a chance of snow along a Bloomington-Columbus-Batesville line with an inch or two of snow possible by late afternoon. Otherwise, Central Indiana will be dry and cloudy with temperatures holding steady in the low 30s and upper 20s today. Wind chill values in the teens, thanks to the windy conditions and cold temperatures.
The system will move out of the area by evening and an Arctic high pressure will take over. The skies will gradually clear and temperatures will fall into the upper teens.
It will be a chilly but sunny and bright St. Patrick’s Day. The St. Patrick’s Day parade begins at 11:30am in Downtown Indy and the air temperature will be in the mid 30s. Thanks to a March sun, temperatures will climb to near 40 degrees.
Spring-like temperatures return on Tuesday with sunny skies and highs in the mid 50s. There is a chance of rain on Wednesday as a cold front moves over the Great Lakes.
The cold front will bring cooler conditions for Thursday, the first day of Spring. The Spring Equinox officially arrives at 12:57pm EDT on Thursday. It will be breezy and sunny with highs in the upper 40s.
Temperatures warm to near 60 degrees on Friday with a chance of rain by Friday night.
Temperatures will be back to near normal, in the low 50s, for the weekend.
