This is December? Nice Warm Up Coming Our Way

Posted By · December 14, 2011 at 8:58 am

Sure we’ve got rain in the forecast, but temps near 60 degrees too!

Highs will reach the mid to upper 50s today in Central Indiana with spotty showers.  Wind gusts up to 25mph are likely too.

Rain is more likely late this afternoon into tonight.  Tonight, a few rumbles of thunder are possible as very heavy rain moves through the state.  Some spots could pick up, up to .50″ of rain.  Tonight, temps stay nearly steady in the 50s with wind gusts up to 35mph.

Thursday, rain will be with us for the morning, but we should see clearing for the afternoon.  We’ll start the day warm in the 50s, but temps tumble as we head toward the evening.  Wind gusts up to 25mph will be sticking around too.

Friday morning we’ll be off to a much colder start with temps in the 30s, and only warm up to 40 with mostly sunny skies.

The weekend looks dry, but more rain moves in early next week.

Soggy Days Ahead

Posted By · December 13, 2011 at 8:52 am

It’s December… but above average temps and rain are in the forecast!

Highs will reach the upper 40s today with scattered sprinkles and overcast skies.

Tonight, rain moves in, and rain is likely through Thursday.  Tonight, rain is in the forecast with temps in the low 40s.

Wednesday looks soggy with rain, highs in the upper 50s and wind gusts up to 25mph.  You may even hear a rumble of thunder!

Thursday, highs soar into the upper 50s!  Right now it looks like rain is likely through midday, but will clear out for the afternoon.  We’ll keep you posted on that timeline!  By the time all of the rain moves out, most spots could pick up an inch of rain!

Much cooler air arrives behind the rain, and the weekend looks nice and dry.

Lovely Monday; rain on the way!

Posted By · December 12, 2011 at 8:44 am

Look for a beautiful day today and a week with temperatures well above average. Highs will reach the mid 40s today and the 50s by Wednesday. We are, however, anticipating nearly an inch of rain Tuesday and Wednesday. The heaviest rain should slide into Central Indiana Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking of Wednesday, head on out to the Greenwood Marsh on SR 135 between 11:30 and 1:30 and get your Sunrise Cookbook signed. This will be the last cookbook signing of the year, so make plans to be there.

Cold Start… 50s in the 7 Day!

Posted By · December 11, 2011 at 6:25 am

It’s another cold start to the day… but at least highs will climb above freezing today!

Highs will hit the upper 30s with sunshine today.  A light breeze out of the south will help temps climb to above freezing.  Saturday, we only hit 31!

Overnight, skies will remain clear with temps in the the low 20s.

Monday… more sunshine!  Enjoy it while it lasts and temps hit the low to mid 40s.

Tuesday the day looks dry, but we will be watching for rain to develop late.  Once the rain gets here, it sticks around through Thursday.  Highs will surge into the 50s, but we have a soggy tradeoff.  Rain is likely Wednesday and Thursday, and some rain could mix with snow late Thursday.  We’ll keep our eyes on that possibility.

A Chill in the Air

Posted By · December 10, 2011 at 5:25 am

Brr!  Who else is shivering today?

The coldest start since February greeted us this morning in Central Indiana.  With mostly clear skies highs will only warm to around 30 degrees today.  Winds will be light out of the west up to 10mph, but with the cold temps, wind chills in the 20s are likely.

Tonight, skies remain clear and lows drop to the teens again.

Sunday, winds shift to come out of the southwest, so warmer air will be pumped into the state bringing our high into the upper 30s.

The 40s return Monday and Tuesday, and dry weather looks to hold through then.

Our next chance for precipitation is Wednesday and Thursday.  At this time, rain looks likely as temps will be around 50 degrees during the day, and above freezing at night.  We’ll keep a close eye on it!

Light Snow Today… Bitter Cold Tonight

Posted By · December 9, 2011 at 4:49 am

Light snow is possible across Central Indiana through midday, then skies start to clear and bitter cold temps move in tonight.

A few slick spots are possible this morning, especially North of I-70.  Highs will reach the mid 30s this afternoon, and as we head later into the day the clouds will break.

Overnight, mostly clear skies are likely, and lows drop to the teens!  In Indy we’re expecting an overnight low of 16 degrees.  That will be the coolest start we’ve had since February 11th!

Saturday, we’re dry, but highs only rebound to the upper 20s.

Sunday, more sunshine and highs in the upper 30s.

Early next week we return to the 40s, and rain is likely late Wednesday and Thursday.

Light Snow on the Way

Posted By · December 8, 2011 at 5:10 am

Today will be dry, but tonight light snow showers move into Central Indiana.

Highs will reach the upper 30s to low 40s today with increasing clouds.

The snow holds off until after 9pm.  Light snow showers are expected after that, through the Friday morning commute.  The metro area can expect to see 1/2″ of snow up to 2″ of snow.  Our Northern viewing area can expect up to 3″ of snow.  This won’t be a huge snow maker, but the timing of the storm during morning rush hour will likely create slick spots and problems on the roadways.

Behind the snow is very cold air.  Highs Friday will only reach the low 30s… and Saturday morning we start off in the teens.

The weekend is dry and our next chance for rain moves in Wednesday.  Yep, at this time, it looks warm enough for rain.  We’ll keep you posted if that changes as we get closer to the middle of next week.

Chilly Temps and Tracking Snow

Posted By · December 7, 2011 at 4:41 am

Chilly temperatures have settled into Central Indiana, and it’s going to get even colder over the next few days before warmer weather returns.

Highs today will hit the upper 30s with a mix of sun and clouds and a light breeze out of the Northwest up to 10mph.

Overnight, partly cloudy skies will stick around as temps drop to the low to mid 20s.

Thursday looks dry with sunshine and highs in the upper 30s.

Late Thursday night into Friday morning snow showers are possible.  At this time, 1-3″ of snow is possible, especially in our Northern counties.  The track of this system will more than likely change before Friday morning, so stay tuned to the forecast, because your Friday morning commute could be slick.

Behind that chance for snow is very cold air.  Highs Friday will only hit the low 30s, and Saturday morning Central Indiana will be waking up in the teens.

The weekend looks dry, but cold!
